Programme ReturnsEvery SAMRO licence contains a standard condition in terms of which the licensee is obliged to submit regular returns of musical works performed on the licensed premises, together with the details of the names of the composer, the author, the arranger and the publisher of every such work, and the number of times it has been performed (except where radio music performed, for which SAMRO obtains full programme details direct from the SABC and other broadcasting stations). In general SAMRO enjoys good co-operation from its licensees, with the result that the distribution of royalties takes place on the basis of representative returns of the music actually performed in Southern Africa.
