Board of Directors
As of 2007, SAMRO’s Board comprises 13 Directors, most of whom are non-executive in stature. The Chairman, Ms Annette Emdon, is a non-executive director and an independent music publisher in her own right. The Vice-Chairman, Prof. Mzilikazi Khumalo, is also a non-executive director and composer-cum-arranger of choral music.

The SAMRO Board meets at least four times a year.
It is responsible for long term horizon planning, the monitoring of operational performance of management, determination of policies and procedures and risk management.
It is also responsible for ensuring the proper compliance with principles of corporate governance, regulation and the organisation’s values.
Rotation of Directors is provided for in SAMRO’s Articles of Association. Every two years, the two longest serving Directors automatically retire.
An induction programme is also provided for new Directors appointed to the Board.
