Needletime Royalty: It Pays To Play

Posted on 11 August 2008 - 15:45

SAMRO continues its relentless drive to Create Value for the Creators and Users of Music, thereby maximising royalties for music performers.

It was not surprising then that on Friday, 08 August 2008, jazz diva and composer, Gloria Bosman, paid SAMRO House a visit in Braamforntein and signed on the dotted line to assign her needletime rights to SAMRO. In effect, this means that the organisation will collect performance royalties in sound recordings to over-the-air broadcasters on her behalf.

"A friend once made a statement: 'There is so much money in the music industry and the musician is the only person who doesn't know that!'

"That was sad, I thought! [but] it gives me great pleasure to know that SAMRO is going out of it's way to make all this information available to everyone and trying to allocate the funds to rightful owners...PULA!", declared Ms Bosman.
