Simphiwe Dana wows audiences in the UK with her evolving sound and style

Eastern Cape born singer Simphiwe Dana has been touring in the United Kingdom recently with a matured sound and a meticulous band that has wowed audiences across country. On the 9th November she received rave reviews as she took to the stage at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
It became clear to the audience that the songstress had evolved her lush and diverse soundscape as she exuded confidence from the moment she took to the stage following a three year hiatus from touring in the UK.
Her warm vocal harmonies laid over the jazz melodies of her band mesmerised the crowd and revealed a growth an undeniable growth in Dana. The prowess of her band was also unmistakable and added another dimension to the performance as whole. With pianist Afrika Mkhize and bassist Herbie Tsoaeli in her repertoire they provided unforgettable moments of improvisation.
A blogger who attended the concert said “As she leaves the stage to a standing audience it’s clear that there are many blank pages of the story of urban South African music yet to be filled as her extraordinary talent continues to develop.”
South Africans still wait with baited breathe for the follow up to her previous hit albums ‘Zandisile’ and ‘One Love Movement on Bantu Biko Street’ to experience for themselves the evolution of a new generation of South African virtuosos.
