General Manager: Information Technology

The above vacancy exists within the Information Technology (IT) Division and reports to the Chief Operations Officer. The purpose of the job is to lead the short-and long-term strategic direction of the Information Technology (IT) function by providing vision, leadership, and coordination of systems, technology, and infrastructure to meet business goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will be someone who has completed a relevant IT related postgraduate qualification. The candidate should have 5 - 10 years of experience in a relevant senior management role as well as in an IT environment.


Key performance areas include:

  • IT Divisional strategy and Innovation development and execution.
  • Provide overall direction by developing and implementing an IT governance framework and IT policies to support the achievement of the organisation’s strategy and business objectives.
  • Oversee Day-to-day technology operations, IT procurement and contract management to ensure effective delivery and achievement of performance standards.
  • Special Projects as and when required.
  • Budgeting & Financial Management.
  • People Management.
  • Risk Management.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and ensure successful execution of IT Divisional strategy.
  • Ensuring that IT department strategies and processes provide appropriate support to company-wide goals.
  • Directs and fosters an environment of innovation, continuous learning, improvement and change agility.
  • Staying abreast of emerging technologies that can improve IT department performance and improve SAMRO profit margins/ revenue.
  • Ensure the development and execution of an IT Governance Framework for SAMRO.
  • Ensure effective provision of IT services to the organisation, contract management of IT service providers, and management of the procurement cycle. 
  • Ensure effective communication with other GMs and Managers regarding costs, value and risk-potential of new IT projects.
  • Drive and facilitate special project implementation through the organisation.


Minimum Requirements:

  • A relevant IT postgraduate qualification. A Master’s degree with an emphasis on Information Technology will be an advantage.
  • 5 - 10 years experience in a relevant senior management role as well as an IT environment.
  • Demonstrate capabilities and experience in delivering successful IT Projects and innovative solutions.
  • A general interest in the music industry as well as background knowledge of the industry.
  • Technical licensing knowledge/expertise.
  • Strong general business and strategy acumen/experience.
