Senior Legal Advisor

The above vacancy exists within the Legal Services to provide strategic legal support to the business in line with the approved organisational and departmental strategy. This includes partnering with other departments in order to improve the legal services rendered to the company as well as playing a support role to the Legal Services’ General Manager.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has successfully completed an LLB degree, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as well as minimum 3 years of music industry experience.

Key Performance areas:

  • External Collections Management
  • Copyright Infringement Action andLitigation
  • Contract Negotiation, Vetting,Drafting and Management
  • Legal Opinions, Advice and Queries
  • Legal Risk Management and Compliance
  • Legislative Advocacy and Lobbying    

Minimum requirements:

  • Relevant legal qualification – LLB degree.
  • A postgraduate qualification such as LLM would be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ relevantexperience.
  • 3 years music industry experience.
  • 1 year compliance/ risk managementexperience would be advantageous.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders(attorneys, legal consultants, service providers etc.).
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to oversee and manage legal projects.
  • Excellent computer skills (including word processing and spreadsheet packages).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of copyright law is preferable.
  • Experience with employment law matters is preferable.
